Cotai Strip: the resorts

First-timersShows & arenasFamilies

The Venetian, the Parisian, the Londoner, Galaxy, Wynn Palace, MGM Cotai, Grand Lisboa Palace. Cotai is a skyline of integrated resorts, each with pools, spas, malls, restaurants and show venues. If your trip is about entertainment, concerts or a family-friendly base with everything on site, stay here. Room quality per dollar is strong outside peak events.

The trade-off: it's a manufactured landscape. You won't stumble onto old Macau from your lobby. You'll shuttle or taxi to it.

02

Macau Peninsula: the old town

CultureWalkable sightsGrand Prix circuit

Senado Square, the Ruins of St. Paul's, A-Ma Temple and the old food streets: the Peninsula is where Macau's 400 years actually happened, and it's walkable. Stay here if your trip is about history, food and atmosphere rather than resorts. The Guia Circuit runs through the Peninsula too, so this is the base for Grand Prix weekend.

Hotels range from grand old names (Mandarin Oriental, Sofitel) to solid mid-range options near the ferry terminal.

03

Taipa & Coloane: the slow side

FoodiesCouplesQuieter nights

Taipa Village's food streets and Coloane's beaches and trails: the islands are Macau at its most local and relaxed, 10–15 minutes from Cotai by shuttle or taxi. Stay here for a slower trip built around eating and wandering, or as a quieter base with easy access to everything.

Booking advice

Book early for peak periods. The Grand Prix (19–22 November 2026) and Chinese New Year (6 February 2027) sell the city out and send rates soaring. Reserve months ahead, with free cancellation if you can get it.

Compare before you commit. Check the hotel's own site and Trip.com: the same room often prices differently on each, and package rates with breakfast or show tickets can beat room-only prices.

Questions

Frequently asked

Which area of Macau should I stay in?

For first-timers: the Cotai Strip. Big resorts, shows and excellent value. For culture: the Peninsula. For food and quiet: Taipa or Coloane.

Is it better to stay in Cotai or the Peninsula?

Cotai for entertainment, pools and concerts; the Peninsula for the UNESCO historic centre, food streets and the Grand Prix circuit. All walkable.

When should I book a Macau hotel?

As early as possible for the Grand Prix (19–22 Nov 2026) and Chinese New Year (6 Feb 2027). The city sells out. Otherwise Macau's luxury hotels are among Asia's good value.

How do your booking links work? Do I pay more?

No. Our Klook and Trip.com links carry a partner ID: if you book, the platform may pay us a small commission. You pay the price shown on the listing; booking through our link may earn us a commission.

Why book through this site instead of going direct?

We check each hotel and experience against its published rate and list what we found in one place. Booking through our link may earn us a commission.

What if I need to cancel or rebook?

We don't take bookings or payments ourselves. Your booking is with Klook, Trip.com or the hotel. The exact listing governs: cancellation and refund terms vary by product and room type, so check the policy on the listing before you pay. Date changes and cancellations go through the platform's customer service; we can't modify bookings on your behalf.

What if something goes wrong with my booking?

Contact the platform or the venue directly with your booking confirmation number. Only they can issue refunds or rebook you. If the problem is on our end (a dead link, or a price we quoted that doesn't match the listing), tell us via the contact page and we'll correct it.
