Privacy policy.

This site collects as little as possible. This page explains what that means in practice.

What we collect

Almost nothing. This site has no accounts and no comments. We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects no personal data, and with Google Analytics, which uses cookies to count visits and see which pages are popular. Google's handling of that data is covered by Google's own privacy policy. We do not ask for your name, address or payment details, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

The contact form on this site does not store anything: it opens your own email app and sends your message directly to us. What you write in that email is the only personal information we ever receive from you, and we use it only to reply.

Newsletter. If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored and processed by MailerLite, our email service provider. We only ever send you the newsletter you signed up for (no spam) and we never share or sell your address. Every issue contains an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to delete your address at any time.

Cookies

This site uses the following mechanisms:

Consent preference. When you accept or decline the cookie banner, your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again. Nothing is sent to us.

Affiliate identifiers. Booking links on this site may carry an affiliate identifier (for example, parameters added to Klook or Trip.com URLs) so those platforms can attribute a booking to this site. That identifier is set by the booking platform when you click through, under that platform's own cookie policy, not ours.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure visits. It sets cookies in your browser; Google's use of that data is covered by Google's privacy policy.

We run no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking.

Hosting and server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider records basic server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and operational purposes. We do not combine these logs with any other data, and we do not have access to anything beyond what the host retains by default.

Third-party links

This site links to third-party booking platforms (Klook, Trip.com), transport operators and venue sites. Once you leave this site, their privacy policies apply, not this one. We encourage you to read them.

Affiliate disclosure

We may earn a commission when you book through links on this site. That commission is how this independent guide is funded. This is disclosed in the footer of every page.

Your rights

Because we hold essentially no personal data, there is little to request, but the principle stands: you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its processing. Email hello@whatsonmacau.com and we will respond. Where data-protection law (including the EU GDPR, for visitors it covers) gives you further rights, those apply.

Children

This site is a general travel guide not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
